    RevOps

    Revenue Operations Consulting

Marketing reports one number. Sales reports another. Finance trusts neither. Nobody can say what is true.

    The Problem This Solves

Most mid-market companies do not have a revenue operations problem in the abstract — they have three teams keeping three sets of books. Marketing counts leads, sales counts opportunities, finance counts cash, and the definitions do not reconcile. The result is a leadership team that argues about whose number is right instead of deciding what to do next, and a forecast nobody genuinely believes.

    Typical Engagement

Delivered inside a Core Marketing CMO retainer, or scoped as a standalone project.

RevOps consulting builds one revenue system across marketing, sales, and customer success: shared definitions, connected data, clean handoffs, and a forecast that survives contact with reality. This is the least glamorous work I do and frequently the highest-return, because every downstream decision depends on whether the underlying numbers can be trusted.

    What’s Included

    Six things that actually change.

    01

    Unified funnel definitions

One agreed meaning for lead, MQL, SQL, opportunity, and closed-won, documented and enforced across all three teams.

    02

    Systems and data integration

CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and billing connected so one record follows the customer end to end.

    03

    Attribution that survives scrutiny

A model whose limitations are stated openly, so leadership knows exactly how much weight it will bear.

    04

    Handoff SLAs

Who does what, within what time, with what information — and what happens when that is missed.

    05

    Forecast methodology

Pipeline stages weighted against actual historical conversion, not optimism.

    06

    Single leadership dashboard

One view the CEO, CRO, and CFO all read from and none of them dispute.

    Engagement Shape

    How it runs.

Phases overlap in practice, but this is the shape of the work and roughly when each part lands.

    What You Should Expect
    • One revenue number every function agrees on
    • Attribution honest enough to make budget decisions from
    • Measurably faster and cleaner marketing-to-sales handoffs
    • A forecast that tracks against actuals within a defensible margin
    PhaseDeliverable
Week 1–2Audit systems, data flow, definitions, and where the three teams’ numbers diverge
Week 3–4Reconcile definitions and design the integrated data architecture
Month 2Implement tracking, attribution, and handoff SLAs; rebuild the reporting layer
Month 3+Forecast calibration against actuals and ongoing governance so it does not drift back

    Questions about revops

Marketing ops keeps the marketing stack running. RevOps governs the system across marketing, sales, and finance — and the expensive failures almost always occur at the seams between those functions rather than inside any one of them. A strong marketing ops hire often becomes the person who runs the RevOps system once it is designed.

HubSpot, Salesforce, GA4, Klaviyo, and the common integration layers around them. That said, tooling is rarely the actual problem. Most stacks are perfectly capable and badly configured, and replacing a platform to fix a definitions problem is an expensive way to keep the definitions problem.

MarTech and attribution is the marketing measurement layer — tracking, tooling, and channel-level attribution. RevOps is broader: the shared operating system across marketing, sales, and finance including funnel definitions, handoff SLAs, and forecast methodology. If your problem is that marketing cannot measure itself, start with MarTech. If it is that three teams disagree about reality, start here.

Structural fixes land in the first sixty to ninety days. Forecast accuracy then needs one to two full sales cycles of clean data before the historical conversion rates are trustworthy enough to weight against. Anyone promising a reliable forecast in thirty days is describing a spreadsheet, not a forecast.
